The Friends of the Ecological School project, carried out in partnership with Impextraco, opens doors for students who have completed the 9th grade at Marista Ecológica Social School to continue their educational journey in high school in Curitiba or the metropolitan region.

Each year, 10 new students are selected to take part in the project, receiving scholarships and being accompanied by an educator with exclusive dedication throughout high school.

The Marista Ecológica Social School is established in a context in which 4.6 million brazilians between 18 and 24 years old did not complete basic education (source: Inep/Censo Escolar 2023) and 5.9% of high school students dropped out of school (source: IBGE/PNAD 2016-2023 – second quarter).

Life Changing Stories

“Through the project, I’ve had opportunities I never imagined I’d have. I studied at a distant private school, and even though I have a scholarship, there are still several other costs such as snacks, materials, transportation and uniforms. If I hadn’t had the benefits of the project, it wouldn’t have been possible for me to graduate as a business technician from this school, which provides excellent teaching. I also started studying English recently, another opportunity I only had because of the partnership’s investment. The pandemic years were very challenging with the change to remote learning, as I was a student without a computer or internet access at home. With such inequality in our country, it is very difficult to have access to knowledge and to different places, as everything is very restricted to a portion of the population. With this scenario, the scholarship allows, above all, access to knowledge that is decisive for transforming our reality.”

Ana Julia de Lima

“During my first two years on the scholarship, I was able to achieve a number of things, such as studying English. However, in the last year, the project has been fundamental, allowing me to study in person, which would have been impossible without the help of the partnership.”
